Summary

A product trial separates teachers’ evaluative judgment from AI-assisted feedback production.

Teachers recorded comments while comparing pupils’ writing; AI transcribed and combined them into individual and class reports. The Year 5 pilot involved 204 teachers in 31 schools and 5,321 comments.

The design preserves human judgment while reducing production work. It leaves open whether pupils understand the feedback and improve later, independent writing.
