Mastery Exams

Summary

Clark uses known proof tasks and flexible timing to distinguish understanding from spontaneous invention.

Students prepare published proofs, reconstruct them unaided, receive immediate feedback and can retry on later days.

Clark explicitly excludes creativity as the target. This is assessment-design background for AI-era debates, not an AI intervention.

Classes have at most 24 students; anxiety is self-reported.
