In-Class Writing with James Seitz
Summary
Protected writing time, with candid design reversals.
Seitz describes in-class drafting, conversational feedback and specifications-style grading. Most reported reactions were positive, but a slower writer objected. He regretted moving short exercises to handwriting because output, readability and recordkeeping suffered.
The design question is how to protect attention without imposing one writing rhythm. Device choice, learning environment and grading can be considered separately.
Based on the teacher’s account and course feedback.
