Bring a question you genuinely want to answer

I hope to work with students who have a question they genuinely want to understand. It does not need to be fully formed or ambitious, but it should be something you are willing to keep asking and actively pursue.

If you do not yet have a specific question, that is fine. Many good questions emerge through careful observation and sustained work. What matters is genuine interest in a phenomenon, curiosity and self-direction, a solid foundation in data handling and analysis, and the judgement to use AI to advance learning and research without letting it replace thinking.

Whether you are an undergraduate, master's, or PhD student, I would be glad to hear from you if your interests overlap with mine. We can turn an initial curiosity into a clear question, and then into research that stands up to scrutiny.

I set a high standard for both my own involvement and the work we do together. I will invest time in careful supervision, and I expect you to remain equally committed. The aim is not simply to complete a research experience, but to do the work properly and strive for a high-quality publication. Outcomes cannot be guaranteed, but taking the question, the data, and the conclusions seriously is the basis of working together.

When you write, please tell me briefly:

  • what question you most want to answer and why it matters to you; if you do not yet have a specific question, tell me what phenomenon or area draws your attention and why;
  • what you have already done to explore or prepare for it;
  • and attach your CV.
